About Us

We're a family business.

Our family has been farming in the same concession of Norfolk’s sandy and fertile soils since 1869.  The farms have been managed by 7 generations (traveling twice through the matriarchal side of the family) since William and Hannah Dalton originally settled on the edge of Delhi.  Each generation has adapted the business to suit consumer demands, agricultural trends and personal interests.

Today, Brian and Rebecca continue the farming tradition along with their spouses and children.

Brian and his wife Jessica raise pure bred natural Angus cattle under the Legendary Beef label.

Rebecca and her husband Perry work along parents Sandy and Ed to further diversify the fruit and vegetable aspects of the business, and have expanded the farm market.

Seeing value in contributing to the larger industry Rebecca is the current Chair at the Asparagus Farmers of Ontario. and was elected to the Board for the Ontario Produce Marketing Association. Brian and Jessica both sit on the Norfolk Cattlemen's Association.

Farm Market

Our farm market started 30 years ago in the bottom of our “Big Red Barn.”  We were open during May and June and for many years exclusively sold asparagus and strawberries.  In 2017, we moved to our newly renovated market and extended our season, partnering with farming friends, neighbours, and other food entrepreneurs to offer a complete selection of delicious food. 

We focus on sourcing clean label products made by family owned businesses.  We work closely with our customers, often sourcing requested items that include a range of gluten free and dairy free options.

Wholesale

All of our homegrown products (asparagus, blueberries, ginseng, beef and hazelnuts) are available in wholesale quantities.  If you are interested in purchasing for your restaurant, grocery or farm market please reach out to us at daltonwhitefarms@gmail.com.

Organic

Our interest in improving soil heath led us to transition 45 acres for certified organic production in 2016.  With another 50 acres planned for transition we will be able to provide a select offering of organic grains, vegetables and seed cleaning.

What We Grow

We grow a variety of crops on our family farm. Asparagus is in season each May-June.
We also grow Ginseng, Hazelnuts and Blueberries!

All of our ginseng is grown in sandy virgin soil in Delhi, the heart of Ontario’s Ginseng growing region.  We grow in small acre plantings to ensure we can provide only the highest quality ginseng roots.

Is the heart and soul of our business.  We have been producing premium asparagus for over 40 years in Norfolk and Oxford Counties and are very involved in the industry with both Ed and Rebecca serving as Chair for the Asparagus Farmers of Ontario Commodity Board.

Blueberries

This sweet and delicious summer berry is our newest crop offering.  We are fortunate enough to be harvesting the fields of the well known Kent Kreek Berries. 

Hazelnuts
Hazelnuts

Have become a passion project for us.  Although our orchard is still young we are working with other farmers to offer wholesale quantities of shelled and cracked hazelnuts to Ontario consumers and in 2021 will be operating the province’s first hazelnut cleaning facility.

Beef

Brian and his wife Jess incorporated "DeHooghe Land & Livestock Ltd" in 2010; raising natural angus cattle, cash crops, trucking, and operating a beef finishing facility. They also own Legendary Beef Limited with their friends at the historic Flying E Ranch.
